 Este es el comentario que hizo Rumiko Takahashi en su cuenta de Twitter sobre el origen del personaje Kanna: 

Como es la nada, no puede planear por su cuenta, sino que hace tal cual se lo ordena Naraku. La razón por la que Kanna, que tiene apariencia de niña, es la hermana mayor de Kagura, es porque pensé que de esa forma sería interesante porque habría un conexión. Además pensé si era una niña pequeña sería aterrador, así que fue una niña pequeña.
